The company behind the ARM segment tablet (tablet), which is developing as the market shrinks netbook.
After successful initial Intel's netbook strategy is at a crossroads when the demand for low-cost tablet and laptops with screens larger increases, a company leader said.
Buyers do not want the cheapest PC anymore, they desire the computing devices of their strong performance, features better, said Greg Welch, director of segment for the mobile client platform of Intel said. The success of the original netbook is partly due to low prices, but now performance is a high priority of the buyer. Chip Intel's Atom is used in most netbooks. The market for netbook was compromised by the growth of the tablet.According to IDC, while PC sales worldwide of the quarter 2 / 2011 increased 2.6% compared to quarter 2 / 2010, the share of the netbook (a segment of the PC in general) dropped 12% from 22 %. Intel has also introduced the Atom chip to the tablet and phone smart (smart), two markets where they have virtually no presence. Intel is challenging ARM - the company has the processor (CPU) is used in most tablet and smartphone.

Intel is also trying to promote interest in PC through "ultrabook" - kind of laptop is thin, lightweight features of the tablet. Analysts had predicted chip, ARM will topple the dominance of Intel in the notebook market with its low-power chips. Intel Atom architecture is considered as a whole, and will manufacture chips for netbooks Until further clarity is what customers really want, Mr. Welch said. Many devices are designed to visualize and the Atom will suit them - whether handheld or PC. These devices are not based on the Core, used in laptops anddesktop mainstream.
